SPRING SEMESTER 2021

a. Invited talk entitled "Translation as a laboratory context of pragmatic meaning-making" by Prof. Maria Sidiropoulou, 8 March 2021, 3.00-7.00 pm. at Online Symposium, The London Arts and Humanities Partnership "Cross-linguistic analysis within linguistics and social sciences" (40-minute plenary talks by 3 senior scholars). Symposium also attended by the interdepartmental MA "Translation: Greek, English, Russian" and the "English Language, Linguistics and Translation" MA, Specialization "Translation Studies and Interpreting" (NKUA).

b. 15 April 2021, 3-hour online seminar "Literary Translation Workshop: Angela Carter", by Dr. Eirini Arnaouti (ΜΑ, ΜΑ, PhD). Attended by the Interdepartmental MA of the School of Philosophy "Translation: English, Greek, Russian" and the MA English Language, Linguistics and Translation" MA, Specialization "Translation Studies and Interpreting" (NKUA). c. Online Seminars 'Crossroads in Translation and Interpreting: from Crisis Translation to AVT and accessibility'. Organized by Dr. Emmanouela Patiniotaki for the META-FRASEIS Laboratory.

14 Μay 2021_"Language and translation for minority groups and crisis in translation" by Prof. Dr. Federico Federici (University College London) and Dr. Denise Filmer (University of Pisa).  The seminar tackles the importance of planned and policy-protected communication in multilingual settings, especially during human crisis and while preparing and responding to crisis. 31 Μay 2021_"Audiovisual translation and access services" by Dr Emmanouela Patiniotaki (University College London, NKUA)  and Dr Soledad Zarate (University College London). In this seminar, participants will be introduced to the current trends in audiovisual translation, the types of access services that exist in different settings and considerations relevant to their professional provision. d. 26 May 2021_Online Seminar by Dr. Christopher Lees, postdoctoral researcher and teaching fellow of the Department of English Language and Literature, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki,title: "The translation landscape of Thessaloniki’s Kastra neighbourhood: Qualitative findings from a cross-disciplinary approach to translated texts in public spaces"_Organized by: Dr. Nikos Gogonas.

e. 7 June 2021, 9.00 am-12 pm_"Intercultural Mediation in Healthcare Interpreting", invited speakers: Kostas Kremmydas MD (Neurologist), Associate Professor Foteini Apostolou, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Dept. of English, and Mariette Mittelholzer, MD, Healthcare Interpreter and University Lecturer, Canada. FALL SEMESTER 2020-2021

 a. 30 October 2020, 10.00-12.00 a.m. Shared online postgraduate session with talks by two professors of the University of Bari Aldo Moro, Italy (Dr. Sara Laviosa) and of NKUA (Dr Maria Sidiropoulou) addressing three translation MAs and guests: MA "Specialized Translation" (University of Bari Aldo Moro, Ιtaly), Interdepartmental MA “Translation: Greek, English, Russian” (NKUA, School of Philosophy) and MA in “English Language, Linguistics and Translation”, specialization “Translation Studies and Interpreting (Dept. of English Language and Literature)”. Organized by Dr. Maria Sidiropoulou.

b. 6 November 2020, 12.00-3.00 p.m. Invited online lecture and seminar by Dr. Sofia Malamatidou, Senior Lecturer of the University of Birmingham, entitled “Quantitative methods and corpus analysis” (with practice on automatic analysis of large collections of texts using specialized software). Organized by Dr. Maria Sidiropoulou.

c. 1 December 2020, 4.00-6.30 pm. Shared online postgraduate session by Professor Maria Sidiropoulou addressing three MAs and guests: Translation MA of the Department of English Language and Literature, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Interdepartmental MA “Translation: Greek, English, Russian” (NKUA, School of Philosophy) and MA “English Language, Linguistics and Translation”, specialization “Translation Studies and Interpreting" (Department of English, NKUA).
